Top honours went to D.A.T.A.S. Ltd's software package RaceSim, which allows teams to make huge savings on performance testing.

Among the many stands and displays, several garnered great praise for their contributions to the sport. Perhaps the most useful design on display, considered worthy of the show judges highest award, was the advanced computer software designed by vehicle dynamicist Steffen Kosuch and former Lotus, Lola and Leyton House Grand Prix designer Chris Murphy.

Kosuch and Murphy's program marketed by D.A.T.A.S. Ltd., is of an equal standard to those of the top F1 teams. Even more amazingly, it is available off-the-shelf at an affordable price. "The package is useful both for designers and engineers", says Murphy, "Firstly, it saves time and expense during the car's design period by allowing designers to performance test all the parameters of their nascent machine. Secondly, it can be rapidly employed to optimise set-up and configuration at the track, or at the workshop before the race weekend." The program calculates performance figures from over 700 variables and, with the approval of several successful customers including race winning Astromega F3000 and Honda Super touring teams, it is certainly helping to reduce the tricky 'what if' scenarios that can hamper steady progress.

A Panel of respected motorsport judges including RaceCar Engineering magazine voted RaceSim the Best Product of the Show.
